Dalyan town is a 20 minute stroll where you can enjoy superb restaurants and catch the river taxi to the 5km sun drenched beach where the protected Loggerhead Turtles come at night to lay their eggs, or Lake Koycegiz that has villages to explore and the popular Turkish mud baths. You can also catch an abundance of carp fish in this picturesque lake.
The ancient city of Kaunos was a famous seaport city until 100BC Archaeologists estimate that Kaunos was built around 3000BC. Kaunos has a wonderful amphitheatre that once seated up to 15,000 people; it also has a temple and a Roman bath. The famous Lycian rock tombs were built in 400BC and can be reached by a steep pathway. Once inside, view the intricate carvings one of which has a carving of two lions facing one another.
